As of Sunday there were 17 and counting wildfires burning in California. So far this natural disaster has claimed more than 200,000 acres of land.

These fires, unlike past instances, are way larger in size. They are becoming increasingly difficult to contain.

So far, over 12,000 firefighters within the state have been called upon as responders. Nearly 1,000 additional soldiers, helicopter crew, and national guard were also employed.

An additional 150 fire engines have also been employed from over a dozen other states.

California has a limited amount of resources to fight the fires. The authorities always make the first priority more populated areas where peoples’ lives and homes are at risk.

Several lives have already been claimed during the fires. The Los Angeles Times has accounted for 7 deaths so far.
