Christian Ronaldo sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion

Professional footballer (soccer player) was sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion in Spain. He owes the government nearly $20 million in taxes.

He has agreed to serve the time as well as pay nearly $25 million in fines. While there is a two year sentence on paper, the chances of Ronaldo serving the time are slim to none. In Spain there is a law which allows a convicted first-time criminal to serve their sentence on pronation if the sentence is two years or less.

While he has agreed to serve time and pay fines the 33 year old denies the allegations.
