The CW network announced Tuesday that Ruby Rose has been cast as Batwoman for their superhero TV series.
The 32 year old actress is making history as the first openly homosexual superhero to be the frontrunner in a TV series. She became a household name when she was cast in the third season of “Orange is the New Black.”
Batwoman will debut in December. The character of Batwoman is a dexterous street fighter. The sassy character advocates for all things righteous and socially just. This will be a crossover of The CW’s other comic-inspired shows, “Supergirl”, “The Flash”, and “Arrow.”

The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck.. because this is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different. Thank you everyone. Thank you god.
