The telecommunication dominator, AT&T took a huge step Tuesday when their deal to buy Time Warner for $85 billion was approved by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon.
This unconditional provision will elevate the telecom giants’ role to a more dominant force in Hollywood and in the mobile arena. The deal comes only three years after AT&T borrowed money to purchase the satellite cable company DirecTV for almost $49 billion.
AT&T was estimated to be worth nearly $230 billion as of October 2016. This deal approval comes as a victory since President Donald Trump vowed not to allow this to happen. During his campaign he claimed a deal such as this would give AT&T too much power.
