Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi appointed Manal Awad Mikhail as governor of Domietta province Thursday. She is first-ever Coptic Christian woman to hold the position.
Mikhail was previously a deputy for the Giza governor.
Now, Egypt has eight female ministers in its cabinet, which is an all-time high in the country’s modern history.
