Residents evacuate as Typhoon Mangkhut approaches Philipines

Authorities have started evacuating thousands of people in the Philipines on Thursday.The most powerful typhoon of the year is headed for the island.

Bulldozers are being prepared in case of landslides. Troops are also on standby.

Typhoon Mangkhut could hit northeastern Cagayan province on Saturday. It was tracked on Thursday about 725 kilometers (450 miles) away in the Pacific with sustained winds of 205 kilometers (127 miles) per hour and gusts of up to 255 kph (158 mph), Philippine forecasters said.

Nearly 48,000 houses in high-risk areas are made of light materials and vulnerable to Mangkhut’s intense winds.

    I have family there, the storm is north of them but im sure they will feel the power of this storm. God bless them all🙏🙏🙏🙏

    Hopefully it will weaken like the one that just hit North Carolina.
