Taiwanese train derailed: kills 18 and injures hundreds of others

A Taiwanese passenger train, called the Puyuma, derailed when it approached a sharp curve around 5pm Sunday. The accident killed 18 people and injured 170 others.

The high-speed train, which moves up 93 mph faster than any other train in Taiwan, was carrying nearly 400 passengers from Taipei to Taitung.

According to reports from the Taiwanese government most deaths were in the front car. So far there has been no explanation for the cause of the accident. Investiagations are under way.

Ministry of National Defense spokesman Chen Chung-chi said some people were crushed to death. They died on immediately.

    Omg what a tragedy!! I was the video also. I think high speed rail is a great idea but when they leave the track not good. I know it’s wanted here in America but with the way our infrastructure is inspected here I don’t know. They let things run down to far here or wait for a tragedy to happen to fix it. May God rest their souls🙏🙏🙏
