In the midst of Alex Jones being banned from social media, and suspended from Twitter, President Donald Trump woke up grumpy this morning and he took it out on social media giants in a twitter rant.
Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices. Speaking loudly and clearly for the Trump Administration, we won’t let that happen. They are closing down the opinions of many people on the RIGHT, while at the same time doing nothing to others…….— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 18, 2018
…..Censorship is a very dangerous thing & absolutely impossible to police. If you are weeding out Fake News, there is nothing so Fake as CNN & MSNBC, & yet I do not ask that their sick behavior be removed. I get used to it and watch with a grain of salt, or don’t watch at all..— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 18, 2018
….Too many voices are being destroyed, some good & some bad, and that cannot be allowed to happen. Who is making the choices, because I can already tell you that too many mistakes are being made. Let everybody participate, good & bad, and we will all just have to figure it out!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 18, 2018
Suddenly, Trump believes censorship is bad. He believes social media “should allow good and bad voices and we will have to figure it out.”
He then attacks CNN and MSNBC as fake news outlets. While Trump is not the most agreeable character on the block, freedom of speech is important to the American people.
If the shoe was on the other foot and liberals were being aggressively censored and silenced surely there would be an uproar.
In reality, while freedom of speech is a constitutional right, social media is not. When engaging on social media platforms many users have blurred the lines between their first amendment right and the privilege to engage on Twitter, YouTube, Itunes, and Spotify.
In reality it is not a right to be on these platforms. It is in the best interest of die-hard conservatives to censor themselves, so they won’t be subjected to bans and account deletion. The solution seems simple.Facebook contests by Rewards Fuel
